Great news! We have a public hearing date set to for the Council's Committee on Transportation and the Environment to hear from residents on the proposed legislation. Public hearings are the best opportunity for members of the public, including residents, representatives from advocacy and professional organizations, and subject matter experts, to share their view.
To testify, you'll need to register in advance by reaching out directly to the staff of the Committee on Transportation and the Environment, which is chaired by Councilmember Mary Cheh (who is a co-introducer of the bill). Here's all the information you'll need to sign-up and understand the process.
Hearing directly from residents is important in the legislative process. It's a great opportunity to suggest improvements or changes to the bill as well, even if you support the bulk of what's in the legislation. And you don't need to be a full-fledged expert to weigh in - your opinion matters just as it is!
